Nudity

Nudity (The Ritual)

Working Nude, or Skyclad, is a common concern amongst the new-comers. They hear the term Skyclad, they learn what it means, and may turn away from this Path because they think it is something required.

First of all, working nude is not a requirement to practice Witchcraft or be a Wiccan – it is completely optional in most circles. There are covens that work nude, and that is something you would want to bring up with that coven – if a coven states they practice exclusively nude, it may not be the coven for you. Be completely confident in what you want and don’t want when it comes to this, because you may find yourself in some uncomfortable situations if you back down.

The thing is, there is something inherently powerful about tossing aside the cloak and standing under the Full Moon, naked. There is something amazing about being with people of like mind in a primal, natural way. The thing is, protection of all kinds is required. Make sure that your wishes are known when you enter into any situation, especially one that might include nudity with either, or both, gender.

Clothing, shoes in specific, can inhibit your connection with the Earth – it is always best, if safe, to practice barefoot (naked feet!).

Personally, I have never practiced nude. My mother has, and likely continues to, because it provides serious freedom and a deep connection with everything around her. This is something you will need to think about when you start down this Path, because it will likely come up when talking with others that walk a similar path.
